Coalville Annual Mini Rugby Festival

A local rugby club is looking forward to an annual Mini Festival of Rugby this weekend when approximately 600 children will descend on their ground from as far afield as Yorkshire to take part in what has become a notable event on the local sporting calendar.

This Sunday, 9th October from 10.00am Coalville RFC will be holding the festival at the Memorial Ground on Hall Lane, Whitwick.

Games will take place during the day with children as young as just 3 years old taking part all the way up to ‘seasoned’ 12 year olds.

Teams from Rotherham, Ashby, Burton and Leicester will all be taking part playing the game under the RFU’s new child friendly rules of play format.

Coalville RFC is a proud holder of the RFU’s ‘Kids First’ status. Children are encouraged to play all games in a competitive spirit but never lose sight of the need for respect and teamwork, two categories for which trophies are awarded in each age group.

The club are dedicated to ensuring children can enjoy sport in a safe, inclusive environment with children from 3 to 6 encouraged to enjoy rugby through fun and games with Vipers RFC Micros.

Bacon butties, hot dogs, teas and coffees will be available throughout the day.

Coalville RFC are keen to encourage local residents, especially children, to come along and support the festival.

Entry is just £3 per car and £1 for those arriving on foot. Please come along and support your local club and a great local event.
